Description EMILIE STARK-MENNEG: THREAD OF HER SCENT Emilie Stark-Menneg is the inaugural artist selected to exhibit in a new series at the Farnsworth Art Museum; Momentum. The series is dedicated to the next generation of artists with long-standing connections to Maine. In Thread of Her Scent, Harpswell, Maine based painter Emilie Stark-Menneg (born 1984) presents a new body of work that reimagines the stories of the unicorn in The Unicorn Tapestries at the MET Cloisters and The Lady and the Unicorn at Musée de Cluny. Woven around 1500, these medieval weavings depict a coveted unicorn in a fantastical world. As implied by its title, Stark-Menneg’s paintings pay homage to the tapestries while offering a contemporary response.
